Each year the Department of Agriculture recognizes small businesses, in a variety of categories that have provided outstanding service and/or products to USDA. This year, SunTree was nominated for and selected not only as the USDA Hub Zone Contractor of the Year, but also the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Hub Zone Contractor of the Year.
The Hub Zone Empowerment Contracting program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997. The program falls under the auspices of the US Small Business Administration. The intent of the Hub Zone program is to provide Federal contracting assistance to qualified small businesses located in distressed communities (Hub Zones) to increase employment opportunities and stimulate capital investment.
